Galaxies: A Tour through the Universe
Cameron Liang tackles the problem of galactic archaeology: How do we learn about the history and formation of galaxies, given that we can only observe them at one time? To answer this question, Cameron uses the study of human populations as a formative analogy. He then discusses the diversity of galaxies, the formation of cosmic structure from primordial seeds (as studied on the world’s best computers), and the role of energy feedback from inside galaxies in shaping their evolution.
