Ben Farr

After a Ph.D. at Northwestern University, Ben Farr came across town to be a McCormick Fellow at the University of Chicago’s Enrico Fermi Institute. Ben is a member of the LIGO collaboration, which recently made the first (and historic!) direct detection of gravitational waves from a merging pair of black holes. Ben’s role in the data mining techniques developed for LIGO was an important part of understanding the discovery and figuring out exactly what it is telling us!
