Maurizio de Pitta

Maurizio De Pitta was born in Venice (Italy) and was 14 when he watched the Terminator’s saga for the first time and thought it would have been cool to build his own cyborg. So it started digging into science while at the same time going through a hippie phase that lead him grow his air beyond grandma’s approval. On his high school senior year in Phoenix (AZ), laying on a cactus for boredom, he stumbled into Albert Einstein’s biography and noticed some resemblance between his own passion to get into troubles and Albert’s rebellious hair style… Cyborgs were still his passion by then, so he enrolled into Electronic Engineering back in Pisa (Italy), giving up on any further effort of his colleagues to straighten that leaning tower… Six years later, still quite far from building his own cyborg (not to say from Albert’s achievements), he goes to Israel to deepen his interests in neuroscience on a then-obscure group of cells known as glial cells. There, as he grew fond of his passion to look for patterns in the world and make sense of the nonsense, Maurizio found out how he and Albert could be linked…
